Kid’s Chocolate Hazelnut & “Natural Nutella” Protein Pudding Pops

I make smoothie pops for my son all the time, by making a whole food smoothie, then freezing it in the freezer in silicone pop containers. Recently, we've had to really cut back to almost no fruit and sugar for him, because we are following the advice of our great holistic dentist to re-mineralize his teeth. So, I had to come up with a protein pop that had no sugar, no fruit. Pretty difficult to make a smoothie with no fruit. You can sub any nut butter in this- make them Chocolate Peanut Butter Pops, or Chocolate Almond Butter Pops...

Real Food Dairy-Free Protein Shake

I am not really a fan of protein shakes. Mostly every powder is full of disgusting ingredients that are terrible for you. Personally, I like REAL FOOD. Plus, I feel like you would drink it too fast to aid digestion, and that it would encourage eating something sweet, instead of food. Now, if you are pregnant, or even pregnant with triplets (! happens!), or struggling to get in protein, or just busy-busy, maybe a shake is the thing for you. Recently, I sent my husband to a naturopath, who suggested he try to drink a protein shake in lieu of lunch. I wondered if this meant he should eat less or more often... not sure the motivation, but I PROMISED not to send him to someone and then totally say, "THAT IS SO WRONG!" after he relays the advice to me. Ha, I am SO GUILTY of that. Anyway, this was the only advice that made me a little uneasy, but we are trying it. So, if you like protein shakes for whatever reason, here is what we made. Now, my husband is low-carb and did not need any sweetener. You *may*. I suggest Sweetleaf liquid vanilla stevia. Just a few drops. Or Truvia, or Erythritol if you hate stevia. This protein powder does have stevia in it already and it was enough sweetener for him. My husband has been told dairy doesn't agree with him, so this shake is also dairy-free.

Simpler Treats BPA-free Silicone Popsicle Molds Product Review & Real Food Frozen Chocolate Pops Recipe

I love to make these chocolate pops for my son. They are full of real food, and protein; and he loves them. I don't add any sweetener but the fruit. Everything gets sweeter as it is frozen. You can change the fruit around if you want. I made them once with frozen cherries and they were PINK! I use a Vitamix.
