I have made many versions of homemade peanut butter cups. Fillings of peanut butter and honey to taste, is one I used to make often. Or sometimes I get fancy and use the filling to my famous peanut butter pie (link). But, once I tried my good friend Melissa's peanut butter cup recipe, I was hooked...
I am not really a fan of protein shakes. Mostly every powder is full of disgusting ingredients that are terrible for you. Personally, I like REAL FOOD. Plus, I feel like you would drink it too fast to aid digestion, and that it would encourage eating something sweet, instead of food. Now, if you are pregnant, or even pregnant with triplets (! happens!), or struggling to get in protein, or just busy-busy, maybe a shake is the thing for you. Recently, I sent my husband to a naturopath, who suggested he try to drink a protein shake in lieu of lunch. I wondered if this meant he should eat less or more often... not sure the motivation, but I PROMISED not to send him to someone and then totally say, "THAT IS SO WRONG!" after he relays the advice to me. Ha, I am SO GUILTY of that. Anyway, this was the only advice that made me a little uneasy, but we are trying it. So, if you like protein shakes for whatever reason, here is what we made. Now, my husband is low-carb and did not need any sweetener. You *may*. I suggest Sweetleaf liquid vanilla stevia. Just a few drops. Or Truvia, or Erythritol if you hate stevia. This protein powder does have stevia in it already and it was enough sweetener for him. My husband has been told dairy doesn't agree with him, so this shake is also dairy-free.
I love this stevia sweetened lemonade, for kids. Even if you aren't a huge fan of stevia, you should know it blends very well with lemons and with dairy. So try it! Even my husband likes this recipe, though he's not a fan of stevia. I like NuNaturals, because it has very little bitter or licorice taste.
Every year, the Environmental Protection Agency puts out a Dirty Dozen List. The dirty dozen list tells you the produce with the worst and most dangerous pesticides on them, so that you know you should buy those items organic. They also put out the Clean Fifteen List, which helps you know which produce came out the cleanest in the latest testing.
As you all know, I love an old fashioned birthday party in the backyard where kids can play as they wish! I serve healthy food, and try to make it fun. I have provided all the links so you can do this yourself, if you wish. When my son wanted a Skeleton Birthday Party, I was excited to dive into this challenge. I only have one child, so I get excited about his birthday parties.
